Started by parents who were stuck.
Amelia was founded by parents who navigated the OPWDD system for their own child — and refused to accept that the average New York family should wait 12 to 18 months for services. We rebuilt the process from the inside out.
Today we're a fully licensed New York home care agency with two offices, a multilingual care-management team, and a mobile app that turns the most stressful 18 months of a family's life into a four-to-six-month checklist.
What we believe
- No family should ever pay us. We bill Medicaid and OPWDD — never the family.
- Bilingual intake matters. If we can't talk with a family in their language, we can't do this work well.
- The caregiver should fit the family. Personality, language, schedule. We slow down to get it right.
- Self-Direction is a parent's right. If the right caregiver is grandma, we make it legal, paid, and trained.
